Karen Pennell, President/CEO
Karen Pennell Consulting
Able to Help You Through Her Past Experience
Karen served as the Chief Executive Officer of Chester County Women Services Medical, a life affirming pregnancy care medical center in Southeastern Pennsylvania between 2001-2010. In the decade as CEO, Karen positioned CCWS Medical in two prominent locations (Coatesville and West Chester) by purchasing two strategically located buildings. Within the first two years, Karen helped CCWS Medical to transition to medical status with the vital service of ultrasound scanning. Through strategic planning and Karen's leadership, CCWS Medical has experienced in excess of 300% increase in clients served. They have also gone from a budget of $70,000 to $400,000. Karen instituted a new infrastructure that made it possible to take the ministry of CCWS Medical to the next level. This new infrastructure is unlike anything she has seen practiced in nonprofit arenas.
In her role at CCWS Medical, Karen developed many successful fundraising campaigns including successful banquets. She taught a unique two tier appeal to David Bereit, National Chair of 40 Days for Life, and together they taught this approach to countless other leaders to help raise in excess of two million dollars for non-profit organizations across the nation. Karen also developed a complete Baby Bottle Bonanza fundraiser and has made the only existing manual available to other organizations.
Karen served on the visionary committee for Anne Beiler's Seven Women, Seven Stories conference and ministry outreach. By serving as a weekly facilitator for one year, Karen gained the knowledge of the importance of reaching out to women and those in leadership positions. This unique outreach is helping women to understand the importance of their life story and the benefit of sharing their stories with others. Women are experiencing freedom from past hurts that have kept them in bondage for many years. Karen served as a presenter at this conference as well as a breakout session leader. Through this outreach many women have come to Karen to ask for private one on one sessions to help with issues they feel they cannot share with others. Karen provides a safe confidential place to go!
Karen is Founder and past Chairwoman for R.E.A.L. Women 4 God which is a ministry designed to reach out to all women of all ages, cultures, and socio economic groups. Through this ministry, women continue to break free from past and current issues that hold them captive instead of living the life of a royal princess, which they are in Christ.
When Tom Glessner, President of National Institute of Family Life Advocates, mentioned that Karen would be holding a private meeting with Executive Directors about burnout issues at a national conference the response was amazing. Across the crowded room you could hear the directors in unison agree with the need for them to be strengthened and helped. Late that evening, when most conference attendees were in bed, the directors met with Karen and opened up sharing their hurts, fears, concerns and struggles in a group that was safe without judgment. They all thanked Karen for making this group possible and giving them a place they felt they could be real!
When Karen realized leaders of local non-profit organizations needed an inexpensive quality training that would address the needs of their organizations she spearheaded the Non-Profit Roundtable. She then realized there was a need for an actual academy that would help equip these leaders with consistent teaching that would involve experts from our community so she started the Non-Profit Academy through the Exton Region Chamber of Commerce. All graduates of this valuable program recommend others to attend the following year to gain the insight and knowledge that is offered in this classroom setting.
A frequent speaker at local churches, organizations, radio and other venues Karen has successfully taught the Five Love Languages, participated in themed study teaching, presented special topics and many other opportunities. She is a published author of articles and devotionals including in the popular series God Stories books.
Karen spent many years in management level roles in corporate America specializing in customer service of special accounts, payroll, human resource and safety management. She brings many years of cumulative experience in these arenas to help other leaders understand the necessity of following legal standards in all they do.
